Brisco is on the euthanasia-risk list because he has shown significant barrier and restraint reactivity, including growling, hard staring, baring teeth, snapping, and a documented bite attempt. He becomes especially defensive during kennel approach and handling, so OC Animal Care considers him a safety concern and requires an experienced rescue placement rather than public adoption

He urgently needs rescue because he has escalated in shelter, showing rapid arousal and behavior that poses a significant staff/public safety risk, and the shelter is recommending rescue placement only. He can be friendly and affiliative when comfortable—easy to leash at times, walks fairly well, knows sit and down, takes treats, and leans into petting—but is also tense, nervous, highly sensitive to environmental stimuli, occasionally whale-eyed, and has shown barrier/threshold issues including doordashing. Most concerning, he froze, fixated, then turned with dilated pupils to bite at the leash, snap multiple times, lunge back toward handlers, and required defensive handling and staff assistance; he also reportedly attempted to mount clinic staff before sedation. Medical history is limited, but he was recently neutered and otherwise no major health issues were noted. He should be placed with rescue and likely needs an experienced handler able to manage reactivity, poor arousal regulation, and safety concerns.
