Coachella Valley Animal Campus dogs are currently in urgent need of adoption or rescue. This page highlights at-risk dogs, including those on the shelter’s red list, and provides contact information for anyone looking to help. Each dog represents a second chance at a loving home, and by connecting with the shelter, you can make a life-changing difference.
Riverside County Animal Services has developed three rescue notification categories. Dogs placed in these categories may have medical or behavioral needs that require additional care. Dogs in the “Needs Rescue” and “Red List” categories may be eligible for public adoption on a case-by-case basis. All adoptions must be completed in person at one of the shelter campuses.

RED STATUS: 72-hour PUBLIC PLEA NOTICE
Dogs placed on Red Status are considered in urgent need of transfer or adoption by the public. This status is typically assigned due to medical or behavioral conditions that are less severe than “Rescue Only” status.
Approved rescue partners should contact the rescue team during business hours immediately to arrange pickup if interested in a Red Status dog. These dogs may also be available to public adopters on a case-by-case basis with a signed medical and/or behavioral waiver. Shelters are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. No appointment is necessary.
Dogs marked Red Status may be cleared for euthanasia after 72 hours if they are not adopted by the public or transferred to a rescue partner.
Dogs in the Red Status category may later be moved to Rescue Only status or, in extreme cases, be euthanized without further notice depending on their condition and available shelter resources.

🐕🦺Submit a Dog in Need of Rescue or At Risk of Euthanasia 🐾
At Hope Paws Support Fund, we believe every dog deserves a fighting chance—especially those at immediate risk of euthanasia or in urgent need of medical care.
We’ve just launched our new: “Request to Add a Dog in Need” Form
If you know of a dog in a shelter that is in danger of being euthanized, you can now submit their story directly to us.
Here’s how it works:
1️⃣ Fill out the form with the dog’s details.
2️⃣ Our team reviews and verifies each submission.
3️⃣ If approved, we’ll feature the dog on our “Dogs in Need” page to raise pledges and connect them with rescue partners.
